Lil’ Ethel lays eggs on the back porch

12_16_2014_lilethelOne of our young hens has decided that her nesting “box” is actually our back porch.  One day I thought I heard a rat and sent Greer to investigate.  He discovered Lil’ Ethel laying an egg  in the recycling.  I clipped her wings, cleaned up the recycling, and she still manages to jump the electric poultry net every day to lay her egg in the same spot.  Also, she apparently sometimes convinces other young hens to join her, because sometimes there are 2-3 eggs there.  At least she’s consistent!
