We have been experimenting with a new slow cooker. It has an insert that allows me to brown meats directly on the stove before slow cooking. I’ve had some mixed successes, but one “keeper” is this Picadillo from The Paleo Slow Cooker by Arsy Vartanian. I’ve checked out several paleo slow cooking books from our new library, but this one is by far my favorite.
I didn’t know that you can cook ground meat in the slow cooker. It turns out soft and delicious. Try out the recipe here! We served it with Brussels sprouts and butternut squash, roasted with bacon and garlic.
