Warmth for Warriors (and me, too)

Yes, I’m famous.  :)  The Palo Alto Daily News snapped this photo at yesterday’s Knit-In at the Los Altos Library.  My librarian friend put on the program as a tie-in for this year’s Silicon Valley Reads selection.  (The books seem a bit much for my reading tastes, but the program was wonderful.)  I am crocheting a hat for Warmth for Warriors, which sends hats to troops in cold locations.  Participants knitted or crocheted together for a few hours and we now have a month to complete our items before the library mails them to the selected charities.

I was struck by the coziness created by a room full of women of different ages volunteering together for a common goal.  It was a rejuvenating balm for me, and several ladies expressed a desire to do something like this on a regular basis.  It definitely warmed my heart.
