In preparation for Family Camp at Big Basin Redwoods State Park next week, we took a hike to the Berry Creek Falls on Tuesday. The hike was 10 miles and marked “strenuous” on the trail. There were moments I didn’t think we’d make it back, but what choice did we have, really, once we were on our way back? It is an incredible hike through the redwoods, though. And Berry Falls is nice this year because of all the rain we had this Spring. We saw 46 banana slugs on the way to the falls, and only one human. We saw tons of humans on the way back – mostly teens on a YMCA overnight hike. My shins are still sore!
